Job Summary:
The Forensic Latent Print Examiner is responsible for analyzing and identifying latent prints found at crime scenes, accurately documenting findings, and providing expert testimony in court proceedings. Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough examination and analysis of latent prints collected from crime scenes, including fingerprint impressions, palm prints, and footprints, to determine their suitability for comparison and identification.
2. Utilize various techniques, equipment, and chemical processes to enhance and develop latent prints for identification purposes.
3. Compare latent prints with known prints in databases, including those from suspects, victims, and law enforcement agencies, to establish possible matches.
4. Perform detailed examinations of latent prints using specialized methodologies, such as ACE-V (Analysis, Comparison, Evaluation, and Verification), to ensure accurate and reliable results.
5. Prepare comprehensive reports detailing findings, conclusions, and methodologies employed, ensuring adherence to established protocols and standards.
6. Collaborate with investigators, forensic scientists, and other professionals to provide expertise and support in criminal investigations, offering insights and recommendations based on latent print analysis.
7. Provide expert testimony in court proceedings, clearly and accurately presenting findings, methodologies, and conclusions to support the prosecution's case.
8. Stay up-to-date with advancements in forensic science, particularly in the field of latent print examination, by attending training, conferences, and professional development activities.
9. Maintain accurate records of case details, evidence, and examination findings in accordance with departmental policies and legal requirements.
10. Adhere to ethical guidelines and maintain confidentiality throughout the examination process, ensuring the integrity of evidence and maintaining the credibility of the forensic science profession.

Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Forensic Science, Criminal Justice, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
